Child Safe Standards
Child Safe Standards at Torquay College
Torquay College is committed to being a fully Child-Safe School. We follow the Victorian Child Safe Standards, ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of all students by embedding strong child-safety practices in every aspect of school life.
What this means at Torquay College
- We have clear policies, procedures and a Code of Conduct to protect children. We continuously review and update these to meet the 11 Child Safe Standards.
- Our staff, volunteers, contractors and anyone working with students are screened, trained, and aware of their responsibilities to identify and report any concerns — including risks in online environments.
- We encourage children and young people to feel safe, heard and empowered — supporting their rights, and ensuring they can raise concerns if they ever feel unsafe.
- We engage with families and the school community transparently, inviting feedback, participation and collaboration in promoting child safety and wellbeing.
- Our commitment includes creating a culturally safe, inclusive environment that respects diversity, supports all students (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from different cultural or linguistic backgrounds, and children with disabilities), and treats every student equitably.
