Library

The Torquay College Library is a warm, welcoming, safe and secure environment which students love to visit.
It serves as a vibrant hub of learning, imagination and discovery, supporting students to develop a lifelong love of reading, inquiry and exploration.
Designed as a flexible and inclusive space, the library offers a calm setting where students can read for pleasure, collaborate with peers and deepen their literacy skills.

Extremely well resourced, the library houses a wide collection of current, relevant and engaging books that cater to a diverse range of interests, abilities and reading levels.
This ensures every student can find texts that inspire curiosity, support learning and build confidence as readers.

All students participate in a 30-minute scheduled Library session each week, providing dedicated time to borrow, explore and engage with literature.
These sessions support the development of independent reading habits and reinforce the importance of regular reading as part of lifelong learning.

In celebration of Book Week 2025, Torquay College proudly partnered with Torquay Books to further enrich our collection, purchasing over 300 brand new titles personally selected by our students.
This initiative strengthened our connection with the local community while ensuring the library reflects the authentic interests and voices of our learners.

Beyond its collection, the library supports classroom programs, guided reading, research projects and literacy celebrations, creating opportunities for students to explore new worlds, develop critical thinking skills and grow as confident, enthusiastic readers.

The Torquay College Library stands as a cornerstone of our learning environment — a place where students feel safe, inspired and empowered, and where stories spark imagination and curiosity every day.
