Playgrounds and Play Spaces

At Torquay College, play is an essential part of every child’s day.
Our playgrounds have been thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and active fun for all ages.
Across our school grounds, students have access to a variety of vibrant, engaging, and inclusive play spaces that promote social interaction, physical development, and imagination.

Foundation Playground

Our youngest learners begin their school journey with a play space designed just for them.
The Foundation playground provides a safe, nurturing area close to the classrooms, allowing our preppies to play, climb, balance and build friendships within a familiar environment.
Featuring age-appropriate equipment, soft fall surfaces, and shaded areas, it’s a joyful and secure space that supports both social and physical development.

Brand New Year 1/2 Playground

Our newly constructed Year 1/2 playground is an exciting addition to the school.
Purpose-built for younger students, it features climbing structures, slides, balancing beams, and imaginative play zones that inspire teamwork and adventure.
Designed with safety and engagement in mind, this colourful space provides endless opportunities for active play and developing coordination skills.

Senior Playground

For our older students, the senior playground provides a more challenging and social space.
With higher climbing elements and monkey bars,it encourages teamwork, resilience and independence.
This area is a favourite at recess and lunch for students seeking both activity and connection.

Additional Play Spaces

Beyond the main playgrounds, the Torquay College grounds are dotted with other play opportunities, from the sandpit and outdoor games to the basketball courts and open grassy areas perfect for ball games and imaginative play.
Each area contributes to a vibrant and dynamic playground environment where every student can find their place to play, move and connect.

Supporting Wellbeing and Engagement

Our playgrounds form an important part of our whole-school approach to wellbeing and engagement.
They provide opportunities for students to be active, collaborate, problem-solve, and recharge, supporting both physical health and emotional wellbeing.
At Torquay College, we believe play is not just about fun, it’s about learning, connection and belonging.
