Transition Program
Transition Program at Torquay College
At Torquay College, we understand that transitions are important milestones in a child’s learning journey. Our Transition Program is designed to support students and families through these key stages, ensuring each child feels confident, connected, and ready for the next phase of their education.
We place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, relationships, and continuity of learning, working closely with families and educators to create smooth and positive transitions.
Transition from Kindergarten to Foundation
The transition from kindergarten to Foundation is a significant step, and our program is carefully designed to help children feel safe, supported, and excited about starting school.
Our Kinder to Foundation Transition Program focuses on:
- building familiarity with the school environment and routines
- developing positive relationships with teachers and peers
- supporting confidence, independence, and readiness for learning
Children participate in structured transition sessions where they:
- visit classrooms and learning spaces
- meet Foundation teachers and classmates
- engage in age-appropriate learning experiences
- begin to understand school routines and expectations
We work closely with local kindergartens and families to share information that supports each child’s individual needs. Families are kept well informed throughout the process to ensure a smooth and positive start to school.
