SunSmart at Torquay College

Torquay College is proud to be a registered SunSmart School, committed to creating a safe and sun-protected environment for all students.
Our SunSmart approach helps reduce UV exposure and encourages lifelong sun-safe habits.

As part of our SunSmart policy, students are required to:

• Wear a broad-brimmed hat when outdoors from September to April (and whenever UV levels are 3 or above)
• Apply personal sunscreen brought from home.
• Use shaded spaces during outdoor activities where possible
• Wear sun-protective clothing, including the school’s uniform options that support coverage

Families are encouraged to support these habits by ensuring hats are kept in school bags, reminding children to apply sunscreen at home before school, and encouraging them to reapply it before going out for play.

Together, we can keep our students safe while enjoying our beautiful outdoor spaces.
